How do I remove adhesive backing left behind from removing tape?

I'm taking down the plastic from my windows now that it's getting warmer. The tape came off easy but the sticky adhesive is still all around the window. Thanks for your help in advance. How do I remove adhesive backing left behind from removing tape?
Try a product called GOOFOFF. It works like a champ but be careful to follow instructions, it could damage some surfaces. How do I remove adhesive backing left behind from removing tape?
So many similar names!

I have found ';Goo Gone'; works like a charm on every surface I've tried yet. It doesn't work quickly - it works best if you let it soak into the adhesive for a while - but it works effectively and non-destructively.

On the other hand, ';Painter's Pal';, by the ';Goo Gone Company'; took off adhesive residue, but it also marred the finish on the front of the dishwasher. It's probably good for other things ....
Goof Off or Goo B Gone. It's nearly the same thing. It's very strong stuff and dissolves glue, ink, paint, and so on. Wipes tape right off. Be fast about it, and it won't hurt the painted surface.
a can of brake %26amp; parts cleaner or a can of wd40
