What is the best way to remove construction adhesive from a window without damaging the glass?

Previous owner used construction adhesive to attatch something to the basement window. Now there is a large circle of adhesive in the middle of the window. How do I remove it without damaging the glass? What is the best way to remove construction adhesive from a window without damaging the glass?
Actually glass is far more durable than many think. I have found an effort is required to scratch it. Of course a rock through it will break it but things like SOS Pads, Steel Wool, as well as razor knives will normally leave the window unscathed.

WD 40 will probably work but I think I would opt for Acetone or Paint Thinner. Either of those and a razor knife will do the trick. Keep the chemicals off any paint or plastic and be sure the area is adequately ventilated. Some Windex and a cloth or paper towel will finish the job. What is the best way to remove construction adhesive from a window without damaging the glass?
a razor blade will not damage the window try using a razor scraper
WD-40 and gentle scrubbing.
