How would you remove adhesive from a painted wood surface.?

I had a child gate installed in a doorway. It was not screwed in. It has 2 round pieces with adhesive back, on each side of the doorway that secured it in the doorway. How can I remove those adhesive discs with out ruing rhe door casing?How would you remove adhesive from a painted wood surface.?
WD-40 will do the trick. Spray it on - let set a bit- and use a terry/rough type wash cloth vs a smooth cloth to rub it off. Absolutely this will do the job. You may need to do a few times.





Peanut butter may also help but in this case i think it willl be more of a mess and maybe not get the job all the way done. It is a good standby though for future adhesive sticky problems.





I do not think the heat will work as i feel it will only dry the bond harder and you then may have to scape off with a knoife or something and this will be more tedious work.How would you remove adhesive from a painted wood surface.?
I'd try a Heat Gun, or that thing you use on your hair when you get out of the shower. Goo Gone might work too, but usually heat or cold will work. If you stick an envelope in the freezer over night, it will open, and be re-sealable.
Try ';GOO GONE';. Should work easily! Good luck.
Don't use heat, it may melt the paint. Baby oil or goo gone may do the trick. Peel the disc of very slow or just a little and then put some of this stuff behind it let set a couple minutes and try to peel again. Clean the remaining off with oil.
at home depot you can buy something that will take the adhesive off
Goo Gone works great. In a pinch, ou can use WD-40.
