I don t advocate wood on the walls be I don t know your situation and what exactly your doing but I ll answer your question. You should put a water proofing / expansion membrane on the wood 1st. Red Guard bought at Home Depot is the product I use(2 coats). After that white or grey latex or a modified thinset is the best way to go. Trowel size will vary w/ the tile size your using. Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and also check my qualifications GLWhat tile adhesive should I use to mount ceramic bathroom tiles on plywood?
I would use floor tile adhesive,Ply wood is often used to even out uneven floors.
And floor adhesive is flexible and waterproof .the rougher the ply the better adhesion. Fix the ply at regular intervals to avoid warping. What tile adhesive should I use to mount ceramic bathroom tiles on plywood?
put down a cement underlayment over the plywood.1/4'; - 1/2'; durarock
or equivalent. Can be found at major DIY stores in the drywall isle.
Screw it down, then you can use thinset.
1/2'; for floors,1/4'; for counter tops
standard wall tile adhesive is fine main thing is to use a suitable primer on the ply first, never use pva to prime that really is bodge the builder advice. If you do use pva the tiles are only stuck to the pva not the wall
you will need to pva the ply and the adhesive needs to be flexible ..so does the grout ..ask at your local tile shop
Simply do not tile a full bath room use it for splash back only.
cement
Grout, ask DIY store and they will let you know.
