How do you remove an adhesive price sticker from sheet music without damaging the music itself?

I have lots of antique, vintage and retro sheet music I purchased at a book sale. I wanted to remove the adhesive price stickers but did not want to damage the music since it is paper. Any suggestions? How do you remove an adhesive price sticker from sheet music without damaging the music itself?
I would lay the sheet music on a towel-covered table. Then take another towel and lay that OVER the sheet. Spritz the top towel lightly with water. Then place a hot iron over it where the label is. This should ';melt'; the adhesive used on the sticky labels. Pull it off before it dries up again. I wouldn't use the ';steam'; setting on the iron itself because it sometimes drips out a lot if you haven't set the temp right. Good luck.. hope it works. How do you remove an adhesive price sticker from sheet music without damaging the music itself?
