How do you get adhesive off the back of a portable DVD player?

I had put double sided tape on the back of my DVD player so I could stick it to the headrest of my car.(It didn't really work).

Now, I have been going crazy trying to get the sticky adhesive off the back of the player. Does anyone have a trick that they know to remove it?How do you get adhesive off the back of a portable DVD player?
Use an old wash cloth and some WD-40. Spray the cloth then wipe over the area..do not spray it on the player!! If thats not doing the job, try getting a can of ';Goof Off'; from a local auto parts dealer. How do you get adhesive off the back of a portable DVD player?
There is a product that removes adhesive stuff, and is called gum out, or something like that. It is in a can, and works well. Go to Home Depot and ask.
Try a product called ';Afta'; also lighter fluid works great at removing adhesive, but be careful it might take off the coloring of the item and it is flammable
Peanut butter will work just be careful. Let the peanut butter sit for a while on the surface and then wipe. You may need to repeat.
rubbing alcohol
Acetone. But test for color-safety before useing.

Acetone might be the main ingrediant of fingernail polish.Fhey smell similar.
Adhesives can be tricky. There is good information at this site about removing various kinds of adhesive. It should help you with this problem. Best of luck with it.
nail polish remover. Takes off all kinds of adhesives
pencil eraser
i have used goof off before. but make sure you test it on a small part first. Goof Off will eat some plastics but not others. I have used it to get stuff off of computer keyboards and it works fine.

You can find goof off at any home depot or lowes in the paint department
try goo-gone. it works wonders
hi! try a small amount of skin so soft on a q-tip or cottonball depending on how much adhesive you need to remove! its a bit oily but it works great for removing gum in carpet yet it also repels misquitos %26amp; has pleasant scent. its made by avon,(no i dont sell avon :%26gt;), and any extra oil will wipe off with clean dry cloth! should work for you!
You can use soap and hot water along with a steel scrubber sponge.
