How can I get an self adhesive wallpaper border to stick?

I just bought a peel and stick self adhesive border for my child's room. I put it up and rubbed it down like the package said. 10 minutes later it was falling down. I'm not sure what to use to get it to stay. I don't want it extremely hard to remove later. How can I get an self adhesive wallpaper border to stick?
I used this stuff in my bathroom %26amp; two out of three packages worked just fine. With one, I had the same experience you're having. I know it sounds odd, but I licked the back to see if it tasted like glue %26amp; it didn't (one of the others did), so I took it back %26amp; got a new package. Defective batch, I guess. If the walls are smooth and clean there is really no reason that the border should not stick. If you still have the receipt, I'd take it back where you bought it and see if they will return your money. It's possible that it was just a bad batch.

Otherwise, the best way to put it up would be to use some wall paper paste, although that may make it harder to remove.

Best of luck with the border!
