What adhesive should I use to bond wood to steel?

I am mounting wood animal shapes to a wooden swing-set. Instead of using the traditional wood dowels I am using bolts, heads removed of course, for added strength. I need to know what adhesive to use. Thank you.What adhesive should I use to bond wood to steel?

I have been using Elmers Ultimate glue. It is like Gorilla glue but cheaper. It is waterproof and forms a strong bond. You need to clamp it while it dries (or use a couple brad nails). Follow the directions and do not over-apply as it expands when drying.
The best luck I've had is with a 2 part epoxy...however, there are many. Use JB weld, which is available at any hardware store or sometimes at Walmart. Your best bond will be between two surfaces that have been roughed up with sandpaper for extra bite.
MaxBond is the best, if you can find it. Liquid Nails compares, but nearly as good. I think Gorilla Glue is a scam. It dries with so many air bubbles it doesn't have much strength, despite it's own hype. I'd probably go with the Max 3000 contact cement. Wal Mart, Target, Ace, etc. all sell it. It comes in a silver tube. I've had good results with it.
